Tom Parker revealed on Stand Up 2 Cancer that he was given his shattering diagnosis, alone while in hospital after having an unexpected seizure while on holiday
The Wanted star Tom Parker revealed on Stand Up 2 Cancer that he wasn’t allowed anybody around him when he was diagnosed with cancer.
Tom, 33, revealed in October 2020 that he had been diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour after suffering a seizure just several months earlier.
The dad-of-two was rushed to Norfolk Hospital while his wife Kelsey had to remain at home with their children due to coronavirus restrictions.
During a chat with Davina McCall, Tom recalled the moment consultants gathered around him and “closed the curtain” to reveal the devastating news.
Addressing viewers who may be diagnosed with cancer, he said: “You’ve got to have a positive mindset, cancer can consume you very quickly and very easily.
“There was a time at the start of this journey where I couldn’t really get out of bed, I was just so consumed by cancer.”
Tom continued: “It wasn’t the physical side of things, it was the mental side of things really, all I was thinking is ‘I’m going to die’, what’s the point in getting out of bed.”
Explaining how he found the courage to get up each day, Tom revealed that his two young children were his inspiration
Shortly after Tom’s appearance on Stand Up 2 Cancer, fans of The Wanted flooded Twitter as they offered their support to Tom.
