Tom Daley, an Olympic gold medalist, is launching his own knitting kit line, but fans may chastise him over the prices.
The diver’s merino wool knitting sets, which range in price from £35 for a hat to £155 for a jumper, are aimed at beginners who may have seen him enjoying the hobby at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics.
The 27-year-old star attributes his gold medal victories for Great Britain to the calming effects of knitting.
“Crafting is to thank for how I was able to compete at the Games,” Tom said.
“At the Olympics, we couldn’t do anything because of Covid restrictions; we couldn’t go outside, we couldn’t interact with other people.”
“So we had to find another way to divert our attention away from it, and that’s how my Olympic knitting project came to be.”
I learned to knit with kits, and now that I’ve been able to design some of my own and share my passion for knitting with others, it’s been a dream come true.

“I didn’t want anything too difficult, so they’re mostly beginner to easy.”
He went on to say that he wants knitting and crafts to be included in school curricula because it would be “amazing for kids to learn to relax.”
