Tom Fletcher, the star of Strictly 2021, was given a blow days after hearing the news, saying, “We’ll miss her very much.”
Tom Fletcher, a contestant on STRICTLY COME DANCING, has spoken out about his recent grief after learning that his family cat had died after 15 years.
Tom Fletcher, 36, a contender on Strictly Come Dancing 2021, has turned to social media to discuss a recent heartbreak for him and his family. In a sad post, winner Giovanna Fletcher, 36, said that the family’s cat Princess Aurora had died the day before.
It hasn’t been an easy day for Tom Fletcher, who relayed the heartbreaking news to his two million followers.
“It hasn’t been the easiest day,” he continued, adding that he and his family had said their goodbyes to their cat, which he revealed his children Buzz, Buddy, and Max had named after a Disney character.
He explained, “We had to say goodbye to our beloved cat Aurora (Princess Aurora, actually!).”
“She was a part of our family for nearly 15 years and was always full of affection.
“She will be much missed by all of us. She was my doppelgänger. “X,” Tom wrote at the end of his message.
Tom’s wife of nearly ten years, Giovanna, also paid tribute to Princess Aurora on her Instagram page.
“Unfortunately, we had to say goodbye to Aurora this morning,” she wrote.
“She’s had heart and kidney issues for a long time, but her condition has severely deteriorated this week.
She went on to say, “It’s so heartbreaking to lose her.”
“Aurora always managed to figure out which people in the house didn’t like cats, and then she’d be all over them having a good ‘flirt’,” she said, adding, “It thus seems natural to upload this image that never fails to make me grin… have you ever seen such a provocative cat pose?”
Upon receiving the tragic news, the couple’s celebrity pals flocked to the comments to console them.
Izzy Judd, Tom’s McFly bandmate Harry’s wife, wrote: “So Sorry Tom,” adding a heart. Love Island anchor Laura Whitmore wrote: “Sending love x.”
“Oh very sorry Gi,” commented Bake Off star Candice Brown. The terrible news comes only days after Tom was revealed as the first Strictly contender of 2021, with the joyful news delivered on The One Show.
