This month, Nintendo Switch Online could acquire Game Boy and Game Boy Color games.

NINTENDO SWITCH Online may get a major update this month, with rumors circulating that Game Boy and Game Boy Color games will be added to the service in the coming weeks.

The classic games collection on Nintendo Switch Online could be getting a huge makeover shortly. This month, subscribers may receive a free bonus of games from Nintendo’s legendary handheld system, the Game Boy. Game Boy Color titles could be added to Switch Online as well, and this information could be revealed at the rumored September Nintendo Direct, which is expected to take place in the coming weeks.

This rumour originates from Nintendo Life, who claimed that prominent insider ‘NateDrake’ stated Game Boy titles could be added to Switch Online’s catalog soon in an online post.

The report also revealed that Game Boy and Game Boy Color games will be added to Switch Online “very soon” according to their sources.

If Game Boy games are added to Switch Online this month, it will be the service’s first significant update in two years.

Switch Online first launched in September 2018 with a selection of free NES games for customers to enjoy.

SNES games were added to the site the following year, and it was planned that this annual update cycle would continue beyond 2020.

Unfortunately, another new console was not added to the Switch Online service when September 2020 arrived.

It’s unclear whether this was the original idea, but the coronavirus epidemic has wreaked havoc on various facets of our lives, including gaming event scheduling, upgrades, and game releases, among other things.

The Switch Online service, as of this writing, provides access to over 100 NES and SNES games, as well as the opportunity to play multiplayer games on your Switch online.

The catalog of classic games available through Switch Online has grown over time, with 20 NES games and 20 SNES games available from the start.

So, if Nintendo continues on this path, Switch owners should expect a comparable number of Game Boy games this month.

What Game Boy games, on the other hand, could be added to Switch Online?

It’s tough to say for sure, but we expect several cast-iron classics to be accessible from the start.
