‘They’re not pleased!’ Dan Walker on his children’s warnings and his wife’s reservations about him competing on Strictly Come Dancing.

Following the announcement that he will compete in Strictly Come Dancing 2021, Dan Walker has spoken out about the amusing cautions he has received from his three children.

Dan Walker was announced as the eighth contender for this year’s Strictly Come Dancing on BBC Breakfast today. The 44-year-old spoke with Louise Minchin and Jon Kay, his co-stars, about his forthcoming trip.

Louise, his long-term co-star, reacted angrily at first, revealing she had no knowledge he had signed up.

Dan apologized, explaining that he had only notified his three children, Susanna, Chuck, and Jessica, over the weekend.

He joked, “They’re not happy with me either.”

When asked how he thinks he’ll do on the show, the host laughed and said he won’t be making room in his house for a Glitterball trophy.

Dan went on to talk about the various reactions he’d gotten from his kids concerning his future assignment.

“One replied, ‘Oh this is great,’ followed by, ‘Don’t dance with your mouth open,’ he revealed.

“Another suggested, ‘Don’t go overboard with a spray tan,’ while a third said, ‘Don’t go out the first week.’

“That’s the kind of support I’m getting right now from my kids,” he joked.

The BBC regular went on to reveal that his family had been begging him to be on the show for quite some time.

He continued, “Hopefully I won’t disgrace them too badly and they’ll enjoy watching on a Saturday night.”

While some people are against their partners partaking in reality shows, Dan quipped that his wife Sarah was fine with it because she doesn’t think he’ll be on for long.

“Obviously, my wife has known for a while, and I believe the reason she is fine with it all is because she believes it will only last four weeks, which may be a little longer than it will.”

Susanna, Dan’s eldest daughter, had inquired about the news earlier, but he hadn’t confirmed it until later.

During their conversation, Louise mentioned that she and her co-star are friends. “Brinkwire News in Condensed Form.”
