The ‘worst’ part of working on a luxury yacht, according to a stewardess, is that it’s’very sexist’ – ‘I hate it.’

Not only for the guests, but also for the crew, living on a superyacht is an exciting and glamorous experience.

Maria Roig is a yacht stewardess based in Barcelona who works on a luxury superyacht.

She described her daily life on the ship to this website.

Maria said she has “complete freedom” during the winter months when asked about her daily routine.

“Our daily routine varies a lot depending on the season,” she explained.

“We work from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the winter.”

My main responsibilities are to keep all of the rooms clean.

“As we don’t have any guests onboard in the winter, it’s basically just the crew rooms and keeping a good level of maintenance, such as doing laundry and so on.”

“After that, we’re free to do whatever we want.”

“At the port, there is a gym where we can work out.

During the winter, that is essentially the daily routine.

“However, during peak season when there are guests onboard, our routine consists of being completely dedicated to the guests.”

It is for them that we do everything.

“We work 16 hours a day, and all of our breaks and meals are scheduled according to their schedule.”

“Having a personal chef,” Maria said, is the best part about living on a yacht.

“Of course, the chef would tell you that having her shirts ironed and someone clean for him is the best thing for him!” she exclaimed.

“Also, we don’t pay anything, so we don’t have any expenses, really,” the stewardess continued.

They provide us with everything we require, including toiletries and food, so I am able to save a significant amount of money.

“It’s also great that I have someone who does my laundry, cleans, and so on.”

Maria, on the other hand, said her favorite part is spending time with her beloved coworkers: “The best thing for me is to live with all of these people.”

“I enjoy being in the company of so many people.”

We are only ten at the moment, and I get to see them every day.

“While this may be a nightmare for some, the fact that I can spend the entire day with my coworkers is fantastic.”

We have a great time, and we’re always planning fun activities, meals, and outings…

It’s as if you’re traveling with a family.”

“The competitiveness you can find sometimes, especially on other yachts,” Maria says, is the worst part for her.

“It’s similar to, say, women vs. women.

There was a great deal of envy, a great deal of it.
