The foolproof method for unblocking a toilet for less than £3

BLOCKED TOILETS can occur for a variety of reasons, ranging from excessive toilet paper usage to flushing wet wipes.

Here’s how to unblock YOUR toilet (for less than £3).

A blocked toilet is a stressful situation, whether you flushed sanitary products or used too much toilet paper.

Flushing items that should not be flushed, as well as items that are more durable than toilet paper and made of plastic, can cause fatbergs in sewers.

Don’t worry; according to Dri-Pak, you can easily unblock your toilet with two inexpensive products.

If your toilet is clogged, the best solution is to clear the blockage.

This can be accomplished in one of two ways: by applying pressure or by rodding.

“Try a large plunger or even a toilet brush and plunge vigorously, or pour a bucket of hot water from a height,” Dri-Pak recommends.

“If it’s paper and/or human waste, the turbulence may help it break down faster.”

“Alternatively, flexible rods could be used, but the physical barrier of the U-bend could derail this plan.”

Many people assume that because soda crystals can help with blocked sinks and drains, they can also help with blocked toilets.

However, this could exacerbate the problem.

“The natural alkalinity of soda crystals tends to dissolve the grease that lines pipe walls, especially when used with hot water in sinks and drains,” Dri Pak explained.

“However, blockages in toilets are usually of a very different nature.

“Blockages are most commonly caused by excessive toilet paper usage, but they can also be caused by sanitary products or wet wipes that should not be flushed.”

“While many of these products are advertised as flushable, they can cause issues in practice.”

To unblock the toilet, you can combine soda crystals and citric acid.

“As they react with each other, the fizzing action may help break down the blockage,” Dri-Pak said.

The two can also be combined to descale toilets on a regular basis.

Unlike slow-draining sinks, it can be difficult to detect a clogged toilet.

To avoid “overloading the capacity of the pipework,” Dri-Pak recommends flushing the toilet BEFORE using toilet paper after a “number two.”

Wet vibes and cleaning wipes should not be thrown away.
