The First Teaser for Netflix’s Upcoming Live-Action ‘Mobile Suit Gundam’ Has Been Released.
More than one manga or anime series features enormous robots or mecha from the Gundam universe. The word really refers to a franchise that originated with a single show called Mobile Suit Gundam in the 1970s. Yoshiyuki Tomino and Sunrise Animation created this show (also known as The First Gundam). In it, a region known as the Principality of Zeon declares independence from the Earth Federation, sparking a conflict.
Although Zeon is smaller than Earth, the principality is able to fight for its independence because to its mobile suit technology. The success of Mobile Suit Gundam spawned a slew of spinoff ventures, including TV episodes, movies, manga, and more, all based on the same concept.
Gundam has been popular for decades, and it has caught the interest of Netflix, the world’s largest streaming service. They’re working on a live-action Mobile Suit Gundam film based on the series, which isn’t to be confused with Mobile Suit Gundam: Hathaway, which is an animated feature. Fans are eager to learn when the film will be released and who will be in the cast. We’ve finally gotten our hands on a sneak peek at the upcoming film.
The live-action Gundam film from Netflix does not yet have a scheduled release date. In fact, “First Look” is the first and only image we have of it. The image was first shown at Netflix’s Anime Festival in November 2021, according to Funimation, but little else was known about the film at the time. The announcement was made alongside other Netflix anime projects, including the fourth season of Aggretsuko and the next Seven Deadly Sins film, Grudge of Edinburgh.
Mobile Suit Gundam will be directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts, who has previously worked on films such as Kong: Skull Island and The Kings of Summer, according to Gizmodo. The movie’s script is written by Brian K. Vaughan, who also wrote the well-known comic series Saga. The film will be produced by Legendary Pictures.
However, given that we’re already seeing previews for the picture, it’s safe to assume that Netflix will start filming in 2022 (if they haven’t already). This could suggest that the film’s release date is set for 2023.
There hasn’t been much said about who has or will be cast in the live-action Gundam, although Jordan seems to want to… Brinkwire in a nutshell.
