Many performers are inseparable from their greatest place. Luke Skywalker and Mark Hamill.
Batman and Christian Bale. Patrick Stewart and Xavier the Professor. Although all three men had long, illustrious careers, they will still be synonymous with the above positions by many individuals.
Of Tom Hiddleston, the same can be said.
Marvel fans, as talented and flexible as he is, will still connect him with Loki’s character.
Let’s take a closer look at the upcoming series by Hiddleston, how the role has changed his career, and why he makes Loki the perfect one.
What will Loki’s Disney+ series be about?
Where Avengers: Endgame left off, the Disney+ series Loki picks up.
The series is still a bit of a mystery, but some specifics have already been unveiled by a teaser trailer. It seems that Loki will have some kind of time travel/multiverse adventure during the series’ run, after escaping from SHIELD’s captivity.
There’s a teaser scene where it looks like he takes the place of DB Cooper’s infamous thief and leaps out of a plane.
Marvel supports the concept of a multiverse that ties alternate worlds and stories together.
Viewers have seen this in Avengers: Endgame, and it is possible that many of the forthcoming Marvel properties will play a part in it. It looks like Loki is also going to be playing in this sandbox.
How Loki’s role altered the career of Tom Hiddleston.
Hiddleston was relatively unknown when in 2011’s “Thor.” he landed the role of Loki. He has since landed several other high-profile roles. In Kong: Skull Island, and also in the AMC drama The Night Manager, he was cast as the lead.
There is no doubt, however, that his tenure in the MCU has earned him his most iconic role. Hiddleston has firmly established himself in the whole cinematic universe as one of the standout characters. Not only did he play a significant role in the Thor films, but in the groundbreaking superhero team-up film The Avengers in 2012, he was also the antagonist.
Like Loki, it’s hard to imagine someone else, but Marvel has looked at other actors.
They considered Josh Hartnett at one time for the role, according to Screen Rant. While Hartnett is a talented actor who could have done most of the part, the performance of Hiddleston really made it his own.
Why is Loki the ideal Tom Hiddleston?
One of the most highly awaited new franchises to appear in the MCU is the series.
In the part of Loki, fans can’t wait to see Hiddleston. One fan noted in a Reddit thread discussing the success of Hiddleston that there was no other actor he could imagine in the role:
The character is certainly Tom.
I can’t picture someone else playing him. Loki is his diabolical smile.
Marvel has done a fantastic job casting its roles, but Hiddleston also stands out from a sea of great actors. It’s hard to imagine anyone but Hiddleston in this position, more than almost any other member of this universe (except perhaps Robert Downey, Jr..).
He blends the character’s sly, devilish personality with the fun-loving trickster’s attitude. He is the character that fans love to hate, to the point where, considering his earlier villainy, his death in Avengers: Infinity War was a truly sad moment.
In the future, what role will Hiddleston play in the MCU? He’s been in Loki for at least a season, but a second season has not yet been confirmed. However, seeing him reappear in one of the MCU movies or other streaming series wouldn’t be surprising.
There is definitely enough popularity for the role (and actor) to justify further roles in other productions.
