The beach in North Yorkshire is one of the top ten staycation destinations in the UK. ‘It’s a hidden gem,’ says the narrator.
As the coronavirus pandemic continues, a beach in North Yorkshire has become one of the most popular holiday locations in the UK.
Reviewers on TripAdvisor have praised Runswick Bay, which is located between the beach towns of Whitby and Saltburn, as a “hidden gem.” The sheltered bay is famed for its old fishing village’s red roof houses and is a popular site for rock pooling, fossil finding, and sandy beach.
It’s no surprise that many Brits select this charming village for their holiday because of its quiet bay, which provides a completely private setting.
Runswick Bay was named one of the best beaches in the UK earlier this year, topping the Sunday Times list in 2020.
Yorkshire may also take pride in the fact that the Yorkshire Dales made the top ten list for those looking for a rural getaway.
Staycations are at an all-time high in the aftermath of the pandemic, and various locations around the UK are quickly filling up.
This year, families are willing to spend an average of £940 on a summer vacation, which includes lodging, transportation, food, and drink.
According to Sykes Holiday Cottages, 46% of those polled stated they are now more likely to contemplate a staycation than they were before the outbreak.
Cornwall, East Anglia, and North Wales are also witnessing an increase in bookings, whether it’s for a camping, pet-friendly, or city holiday.
“More Brits than ever are getting to enjoy what the UK has to offer – whether it’s beach vacations along the South coast or exploring the picture-perfect Peak District,” said Graham Donoghue, CEO of Sykes Holiday Cottages.
“The epidemic will have a long-term influence on all of us, and this is especially true in terms of how people spend their vacations. We expect the trend toward spending holidays at home to continue, and we expect staycation destinations outside of the conventional honeypot areas to gain in popularity in the years ahead.”
