Suranne Jones, who stars in VIGIL, admitted that a real-life police detective questioned the plot of the BBC series, which premieres on Sunday night.

After a crew member is discovered dead on board the nuclear submarine HMS Vigil, the BBC drama promises to keep viewers on the edge of their seats. Suranne Jones’ character, Detective Chief Inspector Amy Silva, must join the investigation team. In terms of the plot, the actress revealed that she consulted with a real-life police investigator prior to filming to assist her prepare for her role as Amy.

The film Vigil, which also includes Martin Compston from Line of Duty, revolves with the death of a crew member on board the Trident nuclear submarine HMS Vigil.

The submarine must continue on patrol in order to maintain the UK’s nuclear deterrence, therefore Detective Chief Inspector Amy Silva must travel aboard to begin an inquiry.

Amy thinks foul play, despite the fact that the death was ruled an accidental overdose.

“And she thought to herself, ‘Oh God, she’ll have to do everything herself.’

“Another thing is that I’d have to do all of the forensics with only this camera bag I was given.”

“She’s complex, and she’s not afraid to show who’s boss,” the actress continued, hinting at what fans might anticipate from Amy.

“When we first meet Amy, she is complicated, modern, and extremely vulnerable.

“She’s single and focused on her career. At the moment, that is all she has in her life.
