‘Spent all our money,’ says Dick Strawbridge of his escape to the Chateau.

During a live chat on the couple’s official website, Dick Strawbridge of ESCAPE TO THE CHATEAU opened up about his financial worries.

Dick Strawbridge and Angel Adoree were on their way to promote their new book, Living the Chateau Dream!

The couple shares more charming stories from their life at the Chateau-de-la-Motte Husson in their new book.

Dick had opened up about their financial struggles during a live chat hosted by the couple on their website before the TV show aired on Channel 4.

“We didn’t know if anyone was going to watch the television program or when it was going to be on television,” the father of four explained.

“But we actually, we spent all of our money,” Dick revealed.

Soon after, the clever couple turned to each other and laughed at themselves.

The DIY gurus first appeared on Channel 4 in 2015, and their impeccable renovations have continued to astound viewers.

Viewers of the Netflix drama Stay Close have’switched off’ following a major’mistake.’

“That was quite a large part but we had to make things work,” Dick said after admitting the pair had spent all of their money on the French Chateau.

“We had plans, but the size of the challenge we faced was enormous.”

“Well, and we had this big, big, big blank canvas as well,” Wife Angel chirped.

“Somehow, we had one room, a functioning room, which was a honeymoon suite,” the TV host said of the grand scale of the 19th century Chateau.

“A possible letting room,” he added, “as well as the reception rooms.”

The vintage-dressed redhead opened up about the challenges they faced before the restorations even started.

“We had the chateau as a backdrop and we had to,” she explained to fans. “This is why we talk about it being the building bit because we had to build the business from the ground up.”

“Yet, we have this, sort of, lovely home,” she continued.

“But, you know, we didn’t have the funds, so we were relying on friends for help.”

“Any job that came my way,” Dick admitted.

“Yeah, you went out to work as a television presente,” the gushy mother said before the audience.

Dick admitted, “Because anything got into the pot.”

The 45-bedroom castle, which sits on 12 acres of land, had been abandoned for 40 years before the couple paid £280,000 for it.
