Spain could be placed on the ‘amber alert’ this week, as the Prime Minister warns that vacations are still harmful.

After the US and EU relaxed its travel bans for vaccinated travelers today, Prime Minister Boris Johson warned that vacations are still perilous. There are fears that a ‘amber watchlist,’ which includes popular vacation destinations such as Spain, Italy, and Greece, would be added this week.

When arriving in the UK, fully-jabbed travelers from countries on the Amber List are exempt from quarantine. Boris Johnson, on the other hand, cautioned people to be cautious when traveling on vacation and stated that the next travel review will adopt a “balanced and user-friendly approach” this week.

Quarantine is no longer required for double-jabbed travelers arriving from the United States or the European Union.

“I’m very delighted that today, because of the vaccine rollout, we can say to anyone coming back from everywhere in the EU, plus Switzerland and the US, that they don’t have to quarantine,” Prime Minister Boris Johnson said.

“I understand that people are concerned about their vacations; they want to travel abroad, and I understand that they want to plan and prepare for their summer vacations,” he said. “However, we must keep in mind that this is still a dangerous virus, and we must try to prevent more variants from entering the country.”

However, there are concerns that in the next assessment, a “amber watchlist” might be added to the UK’s traffic light system, despite the Prime Minister’s claim that all he wants are “clear and user-friendly” laws.

“So we need to take a balanced approach, and I’d like to see something as basic and user-friendly as possible.

“People desperately want to go on their summer vacations, and we need to get the travel sector flowing again, and we need to get our city centers open again, so we want an approach that is as straightforward as possible,” he said.

The next travel review is due this week, and there are fears that popular vacation destinations such as Spain, Italy, and Greece would be placed on the “amber watchlist.”

Countries on the amber watchlist could be added to the red list at any time and with no warning.

Vaccinated UK holidaymakers returning from countries on the Amber List are currently exempt from quarantine.

Travellers arriving from red destinations must spend 10 days in quarantine at their own expense in a selected hotel.
