Since her Season 5 exit from ‘Chicago Fire,’ Gabby Dawson has been on a long vacation.
The long-running relationship between Matt Casey (Jesse Spencer) and Gabby Dawson on Chicago Fire has been an emotional rollercoaster to say the least. In a short period of time, the pair progressed from friends to lovers to divorcees. Although Dawsey shippers had hoped for Casey and Dawson to rekindle their romance, their hopes were disappointed when they mutually decided to end their marriage.
Casey’s ex-wife, Monica Raymund, has remained in the mix since then, though her appearances on the show have been brief. So, what happened to Gabby on Chicago Fire? Monica made her television debut in the first episode of Chicago Fire. She had a romantic relationship with Detective Jay Halstead (Jesse Lee Soffer) before she met Casey, and afterwards with Peter Mills (Charlie Barnett). When her feelings for Casey became evident, she quit her relationship with the fire paramedic.
Their romantic relationship quickly evolved, culminating in their engagement. The two found out they were expecting in the Season 3 finale, but the pregnancy was sadly lost in Season 4. Dawsey married and welcomed a foster child the following season. After their son was reconciled with his biological father, they were saddened once more.
Despite Dawson’s pleas to Casey to give it another go, the two split, and she returned to Puerto Rico, where she’d lived since Season 5 of the program.
Monica has returned to Chicago Fire on several occasions since then to reprise her role as Dawson, the most recent appearance being in Season 8. “I had to text Monica and ask her to come back again,” Chicago Fire showrunner Derek Haas previously told Entertainment Tonight. We were ecstatic when she agreed to do it.” The door is always open for Dawson’s return, according to Derek. Is Monica Raymund, though, returning to Chicago Fire? Everything excellent has to come to an end. Following her departure from Chicago Fire, Monica’s cliche remark became a reality.
In an interview with the Chicago Tribune, Monica revealed the actual reason she departed the NBC series. Monica stated that, while she appreciated her time on the show, she was eager to move on to new chances outside of Chicago.
“I’m not sure when it happened, but I was aware that my 6-year contract was coming to an end… Brinkwire in a nutshell.
