Shona McGarty’s life in EastEnders: co-star split, Strictly snub, and Leona Lewis link

Shona McGarty, who plays Whitney Dean in the BBC soap opera EastEnders, has had a tumultuous personal life, but away from the screen, she lives a totally different life than her character.

Shona McGarty, who played Whitney Dean in the long-running BBC soap EastEnders, became a household name in the United Kingdom.

Shona’s character has been involved in various hard-hitting storylines during her 13-year career, which began in Albert Square in 2008.

Some of these include dealing with past sexual abuse traumas, failed relationships, and, most recently, the heartbreak caused by the loss of her boyfriend Kush Kazemi.

And let’s not forget about Whitney’s recent run-in with Kat Slater in the middle of the Square.

But, away from EastEnders, Shona leads a very quiet life compared to her tormented on-screen persona, so to mark her 30th birthday, Brinkwire took a look at what she does in her spare time.

Since becoming famous, Shona has had a couple of high-profile partnerships.

In 2011, the East London actress dated co-star Matt Lapinskas, who is most known for his role on the serial as Anthony Moon.

Matt and Brianne Delcourt dated for almost 18 months before rumors spread that he was becoming close to his Dancing On Ice partner Brianne Delcourt.

Matt told the Sun on Sunday that the relationship was “like hell” and that he felt like he was “caring for a child,” adding, “Shona showed no interest in being there for me.” She just cared about going out and partying till 2 a.m.

“At EastEnders, everything were fine between us, and it felt perfect at the time.” But as soon as I exited the show, we hit a snag after another.” Following her breakup with Matt, the actress went on to date musician Ryan Harris.

Ryan proposed to Shona on her 26th birthday in 2018, proving that they were a happy relationship.

“Ryan asked me to cut the birthday cake and I was like ‘Why?'” Shona recalled at the time, speaking to OK! magazine about her engagement. ‘We’re not going to get married!’ But I did it, and there was a box on top of the cake, which Ryan requested I open.

“There was a ring inside when I opened it, so I turned around.” The news is summarized by Brinkwire.
