The Mandalorian has completed his second Disney+ season and continues to be more successful than ever before.
Star Wars viewers have received the new episodes very well and are the starting point for at least three spin-offs.
Of course, a dark side comes with fame, and it has little to do with the Lords of the Sith. Now that 2020 is officially behind us, it is remembered that ‘The Mandalorian’ has in one respect exceeded any other TV series of the past year – but that’s far from an honor to be desired.
Viewers wanted to see ‘The Mandalorian’ badly, but they were able to do so.
‘The Mandalorian’ shows where season 3 may be going (finally)
The most pirated TV series of 2020 based on BitTorrent behavior has been listed by Torrent Freak. With longtime piracy champion Game of Thrones out of the way, after coming in third in 2019, The Mandalorian has taken the top spot.
The remainder of the top five were rounded out by Star Trek: Picard, Vikings, Westworld and The Boys, in ascending order. It should be noted that there is one thing in common between all of these shows: they do not release new episodes on Netflix.
Netflix originals are much less vulnerable to piracy as the ubiquitous leader in the streaming industry, and with worldwide availability.
Foreign viewers who do not have access to services such as Disney+ and American viewers who are not willing to pay for another service are fueling the Torrent numbers for the series on this year’s list.
It’s also not shocking that some of the flagship offerings for their platforms are the series on this list.
The Mandalorian is by far the most-watched original Disney + series to date, and even though the Marvel originals start to fall, it may very well maintain that crown.
The Boys is also among the most famous Amazon originals, Deadline notes.
It should be noted that Torrent Freak’s list is based on data from only one supplier. The piracy ecosystem is vast and full of other alternatives to legal streaming, though BitTorrent is a common choice. (Side note: It should go without saying that you’re not cheating. There is no excuse to blame developers for not wanting to pay for a subscription service.)
With the highly awaited series, Disney+ is about to burst.
Why “The Mandalorian” is the top franchise for entertainment
Although this uncomfortable list is topped by “The Mandalorian” it may not do so for long. In 2021, a flood of shows that could displace “The Mandalorian” in popularity would end Disney+’s long drought.
The Mandalorian himself will return in December for a third season.
The first spin-off, The Book of Boba Fett, will also debut around that time.
The series will focus on the titular bounty hunter (Temuera Morrison) and was teased in the post-credits scene of the Season 2 finale.
Besides Star Wars, an explosion of new Marvel Studios originals can also be seen in 2021. WandaVision will kick things off on January 15, followed shortly by The Falcon and Winter Soldier on March 19.
These will be followed in the summer by Loki in May, What If, and eventually “late 2021.” Ms. Marvel ad Hawkeye.
