Season 2 of Squid Game is now available on Netflix.

Season 2 of Squid Game is now available on Netflix.

Hwang Dong-hyuk, the director of SQUID GAME, has given a major update on the second season.

Squid Game, a Korean horror series that premiered on Netflix in September, took the world by storm and became a global phenomenon.

On the streaming platform, the show set multiple records and left viewers wanting more.

Thankfully, director Hwang Dong-hyuk announced that a sequel would be made and provided another update.

The southern Korean horror series received a lot of praise for taking viewers and social media on a wild ride.

Squid Game chronicled the lives of 465 people who competed in a gruelling competition for a £28.2 million prize.

The players were forced to participate in a series of children’s games with a fatal twist, which captivated viewers while highlighting the reality of poverty and capitalism through Seong Gi-hun, played by Lee Jung-jae.

Despite the fact that Hwang Dong-hyuk intended for the show to be a miniseries, there was strong demand for a second season, which he later confirmed would be made.

“It would almost not make sense not to have a sophomore season for something that was loved,” the director said in an interview with Deadline.

“So I believe there will be a second season, but I can’t say when that will be; I can say, however, that we are definitely talking about it.”

Fans have taken to social media to share their theories about Gi-hun’s fate now that the second season has been confirmed.

Squid Game took ten years to get to the screen, according to Hwang, but with the show’s growing popularity, it’s safe to assume season two won’t take quite as long.

“I finished the script in about 2009,” the director said, “but I had actually written it as a feature film script at the time.”

Squid Game’s success shattered multiple Netflix records, with over 3 billion minutes of viewing in its second week alone.

Hwang’s show, which he wrote, created, and directed, is now Netflix’s most-watched series.

Squid Game joined the exclusive “3 billion club” alongside other Netflix shows like Ozark, You, and The Crown, with 1.9 billion streams in its first week.

Given the ending, Gi-hun is likely to return to the games in order to learn more about the mystery.
