Season 2 finale of ‘Ted Lasso’: Ted tells the crew about his mental health issues.
In a fantastic sequence where Ted opens up about mental health with team members, the ‘Ted Lasso’ Season 2 finale discusses mental health of athletes and coaches.
The second season finale of ‘Ted Lasso’ has finally aired on Apple TV+, and it has once again proven why it is one of the best shows on the air right now. The entire season was filled with emotion as we eventually learned how the show’s major character dealt with mental health issues while coaching Richmond FC.
Following the events of the penultimate episode, Ted (Jason Sudeikis) realizes that his secret has been revealed, and that Nathan (Nick Mohammad) was the one who revealed it to the media. In the closing scene, Richmond is preparing for their final league game when Ted appears and addresses the entire squad. He speaks out about the widely circulated story and apologizes to the squad, saying that they should have learned about it from him rather than a newspaper.
Ted Lasso Season 2 Episode 8: Ted Lasso lets his guard down and confesses his family’s traumatic past
Season 2 Episode 9 of ‘Ted Lasso’: After being beaten up, Coach Beard suffers serious injuries. Ted offers a short speech about how our choices define us and admits that not alerting the team about his panic attacks was a bad decision. “Every option is a chance, fellas,” he says. And I didn’t have the opportunity to strengthen my relationship with you all.” He apologizes to everyone on the squad and asks for forgiveness because he doesn’t want anything withheld from him.
The team is happy that Ted shared this information with them, but they are outraged that such important material was leaked to the public by someone on the team. The team is extremely supportive of the coach, and once again, Ted’s simplicity was the key.
He does, however, want the team to remain focused on the game since it will help them get promotion to the Premier League, which they desperately need.
We expected the finale to be emotional, but Ted’s openness about his thoughts with the team reminded us of how vital it is for athletes and coaches to talk about mental health. After a poor performance, athletes and coaches are on everyone’s radar, and they hear a lot from devoted supporters, but they never show it on their faces how much it bothers them.
‘Ted Lasso’ focused on the mental health issues that athletes experience and how they might damage their careers. We’ve seen it in recent years. Brinkwire News in a Nutshell
