Roger Taylor thought Michael Jackson’s Queen concept was “crazy” because “MJ loved Freddie.”
Roger Taylor has revealed that he felt Michael Jackson, who adored Freddie Mercury, was “crazy” when he suggested John Deacon’s Another One Bites The Dust to Queen.
Another One Bites The Dust, written by Queen bassist John Deacon in 1980, was a huge hit with Michael Jackson. “Michael came to numerous gigs, I believe at the Forum in LA, and he liked Freddie,” Roger Taylor recalled in this week’s episode of Queen The Greatest. ‘You guys, you have to put the song out!’ he kept insisting.

Nonetheless, the band accepted the risk, and Another One Bites The Dust went on to sell an amazing 7 million copies, making it Queen’s all-time best-selling song.
John’s song was the band’s second No. 1 in the United States, and it stayed on the Hot 100 for 31 weeks, garnering them a Grammy nomination.

“I’d always wanted to do something a little bit more, that was more disco, which was very uncool at the time,” John remarked of creating Another One Bites The Dust.

“Freddie got totally into it,” remarked the Queen guitarist.
Because Freddie was so dedicated to make it sound the way John wanted it, which was extremely intense, he sung it till he bled.
Roger didn’t like his drumming section, according to the now 74-year-old.
“John was tugging us firmly in that way, a sort of quirky path,” Brian explained. And John made Roger play with tape smeared all over his drums, which Roger despised. Roger despised it when his drums were made to sound dead.”
“I didn’t really want to get into dance music,” the drummer said. It wasn’t my cup of tea.”
Nonetheless, Another One Bites The Dust became such a hit as a result of Michael Jackson’s proposal that Brian reflected, “We kind of.” Brinkwire Summary News.
