Rick Grimes, star of The Walking Dead, secures new gig away from AMC drama amid rumors of a comeback.
Andrew Lincoln, who is most known for his role as Rick Grimes in the AMC horror series THE WALKING DEAD, has a major new project lined up outside from the drama, despite rumors that his TWD character will return.
Since the show’s launch on AMC in 2010, Rick Grimes (played by Andrew Lincoln) has been – and perhaps still is – the face of The Walking Dead. Rick and Lincoln haven’t been seen in the horror drama since series nine, however the character is considered to be very much alive, and rumors of a last swan song before TWD draws to a close are as rampant as ever. Lincoln, on the other hand, may have just put a damper on these speculations, as the actor has landed a major new role on Netflix that is unrelated to the TWD universe.
Lincoln’s return to The Walking Dead has been predicted since Rick was transported to an undisclosed location in season nine’s fifth episode.
While a return to the flagship drama has yet to be confirmed, Rick is expected to make a reappearance in a feature-length TWD film based on the character.
The Walking Dead universe’s ever-expanding breadth has also allowed for a prospective return in spin-off series The Walking Dead: World Beyond, though this has yet to be confirmed.
However, it has been revealed that Lincoln will star in the Netflix anthology series Cabinet of Curiosities alongside a number of other big-name actors.
The anthology’s live-action stories, directed by Oscar winner Guillermo Del Toro, are expected to “challenge our usual concepts of horror,” according to Netflix.
Eight separate stories will be told over the course of eight episodes, ranging from spine-tingling to downright frightening.
Lincoln’s particular position in the anthology series has remained a mystery, but it has been revealed who he will be acting against in his installment.
Jennifer Kent wrote and directed Lincoln, who will star with Hannah Galway from Sex/Life and Essie Davis from Game of Thrones.
He isn’t the only Hollywood A-lister who has been cast in the series; Oscar winner F Murray Abraham will also appear.
Abraham will feature in an episode alongside Luke Roberts from Ransom and Glynn Turman from Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom.
