Release date, trailer, and cast for Lucifer season 6: When will the series be released?
After an extremely long wait, season five part two of LUCIFER was released on May 28. Fans are clamoring for more after binge-watching the eight new episodes, but will there be a sixth season?
Lucifer has a lengthy history of ups and downs, but after being saved from cancellation twice, the program has only grown stronger, amassing a devoted fan base. Viewers are now eagerly anticipating the release of Season 6. But when will Season 6 be released?
This tale contains spoilers for the second half of Lucifer season five.
The short answer is yes, the wonderfully diabolical comedy will return for a sixth season.
The news is bittersweet for fans, as season six will be the final season of the series, and it will be the final chapter for Lucifer Morningstar (played by Tom Ellis).
The showrunners have opted to conclude the series after a six-season run, promising viewers that all of their questions would be resolved for one more, thrilling season.
Fans are willing to wait for the final season because they have already waited a long time for season five to end.
The second half of the season was originally scheduled to premiere in August 2020, however owing to the COVID-19 pandemic, the second half of season five was only released today, May 28.
Originally produced by Fox, the show was canceled after three seasons, only to be resurrected by Netflix for a fourth season.
The last season will be released on September 10th, according to the official release date.
Season six should come as a nice surprise to viewers, as showrunners Joe Henderson and Ildy Modrovich had initially planned only five seasons for the show.
“It’s the tale we were always going to tell,” Joe Henderson told Entertainment Weekly, “but it’s written much grander and, to me, so much more fascinating, that it crushes my heart to think we weren’t going to do it this way.”
The plot for Season 6 has been kept mostly under wraps by the showrunners, who don’t want to give anything away to the fans.
Because the majority of filming has already been completed, all of the original cast members will return, though Netflix has confirmed the addition of two new cast members for the final season.
The new “Brinkwire Summary News” will include stars Brianna Hildebrand and Merrin Dungey.
