MARY BERRY’S BBC show Best Home Cook is set to be axed according to reports, with insiders claiming “it seems to have been put out to pasture”.

Mary Berry’s BBC One series Best Home Cook is due to be shelved after the production company that makes it went bust, according to reports. BBC bosses had already halted recommissioning the show, which last aired in January 2020, before the demise of KEO Films. With no sign of a follow-up almost two years on, insiders fear the programme has been quietly dropped.

Best Home Cook first aired on BBC One back in 2018 and was watched by three million viewers.

The cooking show, hosted by Strictly Come Dancing’s Claudia Winkleman, returned last January to an audience of 3.6 million.

Best Home Cook was the first cooking show Mary, 86, presented following her exit from the Great British Bake Off in 2016 when the popular show moved to Channel 4.

However, there has been no sign of a follow-up yet, with insiders fearing the show won’t be making a return.

When discussing Best Home Cook’s future, one source said to the Mirror: “It seems to have been put out to pasture.

“There was talk about reviving the celebrity version but there’s still no word – we’re not holding out much hope.”

Keo Films, the production company co-founded by River Cottage chef Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall, collapsed with enormous debts in the summer.

The company came up with the Best Home Cook format after the BBC lost the rights to The Great British Bake Off to Channel 4 in 2016.
