PS5 game downloads are being skipped in an exciting PlayStation 5 update.

A new PS5 update is on the way, but it won’t be available as a PS4 download because it won’t require a fancy subscription service.

Sony has confirmed that the next exciting PlayStation 5 feature, which is being developed with next-gen gaming in mind, will be released in 2022.

This is good news for PlayStation 5 owners, as there are still a limited number of next-gen games and experiences available for them to enjoy on their shiny new consoles.

By abandoning the PS4, Sony gains a significant amount of flexibility in developing new features, both for games and for the platform as a whole.

And a new tournaments feature, which has been missing from the PS5 since its launch, is expected to be the next big download for gamers.

PlayStation’s Jim Ryan revealed the news during CES 2022, saying, “This year, we’re also planning to introduce a new tournaments feature on PS5”.

Unfortunately, there was no indication of when this new feature would be available, but it appears to be coming in the near future.

Ryan also shared some exciting news about how many PS5 next-gen projects are currently in development, saying:

“There are now 17 studios in the PlayStation Studios family.”

“And we’re excited to see these teams shine as they unleash their creative potential and inject their own sense of innovation into our first-party portfolio.”

“The PlayStation 5 platform experience is also innovative.

We’ve already added new features to the console in its first year, such as 3D audio on TV speakers and cross-play between PS5 and PS4.

“We’re also planning to introduce a new tournaments feature on PS5 this year.”

For us at PlayStation, innovation also means that we’ll be first to explore new technology that unlocks new entertainment experiences.”

So, in addition to the new features planned for the PS5, there are a number of projects in the works that could benefit from a new tournament system.

We’ll have to wait to find out what’s next for the PlayStation 5, with major developer announcements expected at events like E3.

New revelations have already begun, with Sony confirming plans to release a new PlayStation.
