Prince Harry & Duchess Meghan: Aunt Sophie reacts to her Oprah interview

Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan caused a lot of excitement with their Oprah interview. But Sophie of Wessex seems not to have noticed.

There is hardly anyone who doesn’t know what it’s all about when the names Prince Harry (36), Duchess Meghan (39, née Meghan Markle) and Oprah Winfrey (67) are mentioned in the same breath. The famous interview, in which the Sussexes heavily criticized the British royal family, triggered numerous discussions.

Prince Edward (57) and his wife Sophie of Wessex (56) are nevertheless up for joking about the explosive conversation, as “” with reference to “The Telegraph Magazine” now reports.

Sophie of Wessex: “Oprah who?”

In an interview with the magazine, the royal couple was asked if they had seen the conversation with U.S. talk show star Oprah Winfrey. To this, the couple responded with a wink, “Oprah who?” and with “What interview?” – as if they had absolutely no idea what it was about.

But of course, the couple is aware of the tensions that the interview and other revelations from Prince Harry have caused in recent weeks. To that, however, Sophie of Wessex made it clear: “We’re still a family, no matter what, and we’ll always be a family.”

Prince Harry spoke at length with his aunt

Sophie also told that she had the opportunity for a longer conversation with Prince Harry when he traveled to the UK for the funeral of his grandfather Prince Philip (†99). This is surprising because, after all, there are said to have been no more detailed conversations with the other members of the family – certainly not regarding the controversial interview. Which is understandable, after all, the family came together in mourning for the Duke of Edinburgh. Family disputes have no place on a day like this.

However, Sophie did not reveal what the conversation with her nephew was about. It is not yet clear when the tensions within the family will be resolved. In any case, the Sussexes are to be invited to the Queen’s platinum jubilee in 2022 – but there is still a long way to go until then.
