Portugal’s quarantine rules have been scrapped, but there are some important new travel rules that you should be aware of.

The Portuguese government confirmed yesterday that unvaccinated visitors from the United Kingdom will no longer be subjected to a required quarantine period when visiting the mainland. For a long time, fully vaccinated Britons have been permitted to enter Portugal without being quarantined.
However, both vaccinated and unvaccinated Britons must comply with specific entrance requirements in order to be welcomed across the border.
Furthermore, the UK has kept Portugal on the amber list, which means that arrivals are still subject to quarantine and testing.
Travellers from the United Kingdom are allowed to enter Portugal even if they have not had the COVID-19 vaccine.
They will, however, be required to submit a COVID-19 test that is negative.
“This can be an RT-PCR test conducted within 72 hours of departure or an antigen test taken within 48 hours of departure,” according to the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO).
