EPIC Games has confirmed that update 17.40 will be released, which could be the largest download of the season so yet.

PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PC, Nintendo Switch, and Android will all receive Fortnite update 17.40.

The release date for Fortnite update 17.40 is August 17th. It will be available for download in the UK at 9 a.m. BST.

The only downside is that version 17.40 will be accompanied by a period of server downtime because it is a major update. At roughly 8.30 a.m., the servers will be turned off, and they should be back online by 11 a.m.

Epic Games shared the news on Twitter, along with a huge hint about what to expect: “Grab your Coral Buddy,” says the narrator. On August 17, v17.40 will be released!

“Downtime will begin at approximately 04:00 AM ET in preparation for the update. About 30 minutes before the event, matchmaking will be disabled.”

Update 17.40, according to Fortnite insiders like Hypex, will continue the alien abduction plot by removing Coral Castle from the map.

The Exotic Burst Pulse Rifle will be added to the game, and the IO mole will be revealed. Imposter mode may be fully disclosed, based on the newest teasers.

Aside from that, the files for Wonder Woman’s gear will be added to Fortnite, as well as the next set of challenges.
