The announcement of a reboot of the iconic CW series astonished and excited viewers, but showrunner Joshua Safran has assured that the new series will be substantially different.

While fans of the original series have been noticing small references to the show’s predecessor, a recent cameo proved to be the finest of them all, with fans ecstatic.

Yin Chang, who played Nelly Yuki, Queen B Blair Waldorf’s (Leighton Meester) former academic adversary, made a brief appearance in the reboot’s Halloween episode.

“Oh wait, I guess I forgot to say tomorrow’s Gossip Girl contains an ACTUAL returning cast member from the original!” Safran teased on Twitter prior to the episode airing.
