Orchid care: A gardening expert recommends the “best” orchid kind for your home.

A GARDENING expert has offered his recommendations for the “best” orchids to buy for your home. These types should be “constantly on the lookout,” according to the plant expert.

Michael Perry, better known as Mr Plant Geek, a gardening guru, has revealed which orchids are the “best” to buy. Michael gave an orchid master class on ITV’s This Morning in 2018 and shared his tips. Davina McCall and Ore Oduba chatted with the plant expert about the lovely plants.

Some of the “finest orchids to buy,” according to Michael, are grown in England.

“English-grown orchids,” he explained. So these are some of the greatest orchids to buy, and always search for English-grown orchids since they’ll be more accustomed to our climate.” Following that, Michael walked viewers through each species of orchid, explaining how much they cost and how long they flower for.

“First and foremost, we have the moth orchid, which starts at just a fiver,” he explained.

“The blossoms appear velvety, yet they are waxy and only endure two to three months.”

“It’s one of the easiest to cultivate, and it’s also one of the easiest to re-flower.”

Michael then demonstrated a white spotty orchid with pinkish patches to the audience.

A “spotty moth orchid” is the name given to this kind.

“These are roughly three times the price of a standard orchid, but they’re a little harder to make, but they’re really fancy,” he continued.

“These are fantastic for gifts, and they’re also great for kids’ first plants.”

Ore inquired if it was possible to get orchids that were not in bloom.

We buy orchids in flower because we want to know what color they will be, according to the plant expert.

He did say, though, that you can buy them in bud or smaller plants to “grow on.”

You may even buy them as seedlings if you really want a challenge.

The “staircase orchid,” or Dendrobium, was the third orchid Michael showed spectators.

“It’s fantastic since these are almost the same price as a high-end flower bouquet, yet they last three times as long.”

“The next one is a slipper orchid,” says the narrator. Isn’t it stunning? “Brinkwire Summary News,” Waxy flowered once more.
