Obama spent quarantine with friend of his daughter

The eldest daughter of the former US president is not only in steady hands, Malia’s boyfriend also moved in with her parents for a while. Now Barack Obama revealed how the quarantine was with the son-in-law-to-be.

With fathers, the first boyfriend of their own daughter is always such a thing. A former president is no different. Barack Obama even got to know the sweetheart of his firstborn Malia particularly intensively. Rory Farquharson moved in with the Obama family during the Corona pandemic.

A hungry guest
Barack Obama now chatted it up on journalist Bill Simmons’ podcast. “There was this whole visa thing, he had taken a job here, and then we took him in,” the father of two told about his British son-in-law-in-waiting, who traveled from London. At first, he said, he wasn’t quite comfortable with the situation. “Actually, I didn’t want to like him at first,” Obama admitted, “but he’s a good kid,” he finally had to concede.

The banker’s son, he said, had stayed with the family for a while – and had shown a great appetite. His grocery bill had risen by about 30 percent during that time, the father of two daughters joked, marveling, “What young men can eat.”

“Wonderful young man”

The funniest moment with Farquharson was when they played cards together, Obama continues. Among other things, he taught the Briton how to bluff. Looking back, the former head of state can’t help but rave about his daughter’s boyfriend. He was a “wonderful young man,” according to Obama.

Malia Obama and Rory Farquharson met while studying at the elite Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts. They are said to have been a couple since 2017. In addition to the 22-year-old, Barack Obama and wife Michelle also have daughter Sasha, who is three years younger.
