Nicola Coughlan of Derry Girls on reprising her role as Clare for Season 3 It’s been a long time since I’ve had the opportunity to play her!
Nicola Coughlan, who plays Clare Devlin on DERRY GIRLS, has spoken out about her plans to return for season three.
Derry Girls hasn’t released any new content since 2019, although season three is set to premiere later this year. It comes after a third series of the popular sitcom produced and written by Northern Irish writer Lisa McGee was ordered for 2020 but had to be postponed owing to the Covid-19 pandemic. With filming expected to commence later this year, Clare Devlin actress Nicola Coughlan has expressed interest in returning.
Derry Girls has been off the air for more than two years, but the third series with the girls and the “little English fella” will broadcast on Channel 4 soon.
Clare, one of Erin Quinn’s (Saorise-Monica Jackson) best pals, is often the voice of reason in the gang, and Nicola plays her.
Fans are aware that she is more intimidated by authority figures than her peers.
Clare came out as a lesbian to her friends and school towards the end of the first season.
So, what does the character have in store for the future series?
Nicola remained tight-lipped about plot elements, but voiced her “excitement” at the prospect of re-putting Clare’s school uniform on.
“I’m so excited to get back to it!” she exclaimed.
“Being in that ensemble is so much fun because it’s such a unique experience: five individuals constantly knocking the ball to one another, like a doubles-plus-one tennis match where the ball never drops.
According to Radio Times, “I’ve missed playing Clare.”
Siobhan McSweeney, who plays Sister Michael in the program, recently commented of a “scheduling nightmare” as to why the group has taken so long to return and begin production.
Siobhan explained that the show’s creator didn’t want to “sacrifice on quality,” but that the cast was “impatient to finish it.”
Erin’s actress also talked on how important it is to keep the show as authentic as possible.
She went on to say, “We don’t want to deliver any show that is in any way a limited version.”
Hello, everyone. I’m now working on Series 3 of the series. Who knows what is ahead for The Derry Girls, but don’t be concerned… We’re making plans!!
When it comes to season three, Lisa previously stated that the show will have shifted to “peacetime.”
