Netflix’s Christmas Special Has Been Cancelled.

Dash andamp; Lily, Netflix’s beloved Christmas romance, will not be renewed for a second season. The streaming service announced in October that Dash andamp; Lily would not be returning for a second season. The show’s first, and now only, season began in November 2020.

According to TV Line, Netflix chose not to renew the sitcom for a second season on Wednesday. The titular Dash and Lily were played by Austin Abrams and Midori Francis. In a notebook, the two teenagers communicated by trading letters and dares. Dash andamp; Lily took place in New York City, and the series’ now-series conclusion showed the couple ultimately enjoying a kiss at the famed Strand bookshop.

Dash andamp; Lily was based on David Levithan and Rachel Cohn’s young adult book series Dash andamp; Lily’s Book of Dares. The cast and crew expressed interest in producing another season before the show’s cancellation was revealed. Because both Levithan and Cohn were in the middle of expanding the YA series with another novel, series creator Joe Tracz told TV Line shortly after the show premiered in November 2020 that they envisioned a future for Dash andamp; Lily. “I would love to be able to go back and do the second book and third book [in Cohn and Levithan’s series],” Tracz said at the time. “The third book was written on location. David and Rachel would pay a visit to the set, where they’d be working on their third-book chapters. I adore these characters and the city in which they dwell. Knowing there are more stories to tell, those are the ones I want to tell.” Although, in the months following the premiere of Dash andamp; Lily, it appeared that the show was on the verge of being canceled. Producer Shawn Levy linked the show to another he created, I Am Not Okay With This, in an interview with Collider published in August. I Am Not Okay With This was originally renewed for a second season, but owing to the COVID-19 epidemic, the decision was reversed. Dash andamp; Lily drew awards recognition, but it didn’t seem to be enough to secure a second season, according to Levy. “We made the show we wanted,” he remarked. Not nearly enough… Summary of Entertainment News from Brinkwire.
