Mrs Hinch fans share ‘amazing’ tips for getting rid of washing machine mold.
An “amazing” cleaning hack for removing mold from washing machines has been shared by a cleaning enthusiast.
One Mrs Hinch supporter claimed that the hack would make the washing machine seal “gleam.”
Mrs Hinch, whose real name is Sophie Hinchliffe, rose to fame on social media and television with her cleaning tips and recommendations. The cleaning enthusiast has over four million Instagram followers.
Many of her fans have now followed in her footsteps and created their own social media groups dedicated to cleaning and organizing tips, one of which includes washing machine mold removal hacks.
One woman asked how to get mold out of her washing machine by posting on the Mrs Hinch Made Me Do It Facebook page.
“Hello, we have an apartment that we rent out, our last tenants left the washing machine disgusting,” Facebook user Sinead Dunleavy wrote.
“It has what appears to be mold on the rubber inside.”
“Can anyone help me figure out how to get it out?”
Washing machines must be cleaned on a regular basis, and if not properly dried, they can develop mould.
Despite the fact that the washing machine seal is hidden, bacteria and germs can live there.
The post was inundated with tips and tricks from fellow cleaning enthusiasts.
Mold spray was suggested by the majority of group members as a way to clean the seal.
“Astonish Mould and Mildew and leave it for about half an hour, then scrub off,” Lauren Gaskell said.
“Amazing Mould and Mildew,” wrote Stacey Shurmer.
Astonish Mould and Mildew Remover claims to effectively remove mould and mildew in minutes while also assisting in the removal of tough stains.
Bandamp;M and Home Bargains sell a mould remover spray for around £1.
“Scrape out the seal, then spray Astonish Mould and Mildew on it and leave it,” Sarah Williams added.
“Clean the drawer and the filters while that’s going on.”
Run everything through a hot wash once the seals are completed.”
Some users suggested cleaning washing machines with soda crystals.
Soda crystals aid in the softening of water, the dissolving of grease, and the removal of dirt and stains.
They can be used as part of a laundry load or by themselves to thoroughly clean the machine.
“Put some soda crystals in and run a hot wash,” Hedi Babel-Smith advised.
“Soda crystals helped me with mine,” Amy Lea Catterall wrote.
Other members of the group suggested using white and sterilizing tablets.
