More of your favorite childhood games may be making a comeback in the near future.
The Simpsons Arcade, a new Final Fight, and a Golden Axe sequel are just a few of the probable retro masterpieces Dotemu could tackle next.
This week, fans of classic video games got a boost when Dotemu, the developer of Streets of Rage 4, was purchased by Focus Home Interactive.
Focus Home Interactive has bought a 77.5 percent stake in the developer’s capital for €38.5 million (with an additional €15 million based on performance).
The prospect of more classic video game remakes in the future is the most exciting aspect of the arrangement.
The purchase, according to Dotemu CEO Cyrille Imbert, will allow the company to work on upgraded versions of games from the 32-bit era.
Is this a hint that Dotemu is working on a PlayStation, Saturn, or N64 remake?
“While Dotemu will continue to operate independently, this new agreement will allow Dotemu to benefit from the indisputable expertise of Focus Home Interactive’s teams in the development of AA titles and, as a result, commence the production of future remakes or sequels on licenses from,” he stated.

Dotemu is presently working on Windjammers 2 and Metal Slug Tactics, which will be released in the near future.
