Meng’er Zhang, star of ‘Shang-Chi,’ teases a heartfelt deleted scene for Shaun and Xialing (exclusive).
According to star Meng’er Zhang, there is a lot to see on the Shang-Chi Blu-ray and DVD.
She teased some of the highlights of the home video copies, including an emotional deleted scene between her and her on-screen brother, Shaun (Simu Liu), in an exclusive interview with PopCulture.com.
“We have a lot of fun gag reels on the Blu-ray, as well as a lot of cut scenes.”
She described it as “really cool to watch.”
“I suppose it’s like experiencing everything all over again for me after watching all those cut scenes…”
Shang-Chi also apologized to Xialing in the cut scenes.
So, has she truly forgiven him? That’s something we’ll have to find out later.”
Zhang was probably referring to fans’ hopes for a Xialing spinoff series when he said “later.”
Her character took control of the global criminal organization known as the Ten Rings at the end of the film, even dominating the coveted post-credit scene that Marvel made famous.
Since then, fans have speculated about a Xialing and the 10 Rings spinoff.
Zhang echoed those sentiments, saying, “I’ve read a lot of comments and posts from fans asking for [a]Disney(plus) show for Xialing,” adding, “I’ve also read a lot of comments and posts from fans asking for [a]Disney(plus) show for Xialing.”
I mean, I want that too! I like that idea because I believe Xialing and the Ten Rings organization – she’s the new leader right now – have a lot more for us to discover.
What’s next, right?!”
Since she got access to Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Zhang admitted that she has been watching it nonstop.
“I think I’ve seen it at least five times in the theater, and I also watched it on Disney(plus) for…,” she said.
Oh, my god, I’ve lost count.
We just play it in the background sometimes, and it’s so good! I’m going to get the Blu-ray as well.”
Zhang has a long career in theater behind her, but Shang-Chi is her first feature-length film.
She sent out a video audition for a blind casting call, unaware that she was auditioning for the MCU. Now that she’s in, she’s looking forward to seeing how far Xialing can go.
Marvel Studios has yet to comment on a Shang-Chi spinoff or even a sequel to the superhero hit.
The film is now available to stream on Disney(plus) and…
