Megan’s mother storms off over the wedding shock on Married At First Sight UK.
MARRIED AT FIRST SIGHT has returned to television with a larger and better sixth season, and there was plenty of drama, as in previous seasons.
The audacious social experiment found its way to British screens on E4 after a successful run in Australia and became an instant smash. Megan Wolfe, a Married At First Sight competitor, finally told her mother she was being married to a stranger in the sixth season, and she didn’t take it well.
16 people were connected with other candidates in a social experiment to find love with the help of professionals.
Unlike other dating shows, this one requires the pair to meet at the altar for the first time.
The marriage is the only distinction between the UK and Australian versions; here, couples will not be coerced into a legally binding marriage.
“Following the Australian pattern, rather than formal marriages, the couples will make lifelong promises to one another,” a program spokeswoman told Metro.co.uk.
Megan Wolfe sat down with her mother Jackie and twin brother Mitchell to break the news in the most recent episode.
Megan, who is 26 years old, is one of the youngest contestants this year and was engaged to company protection specialist Robert Voysey, dubbed “Big Bob” by his friends.
Megan, a health coach, admitted that her brother was “overprotective” and that she had a “nervous stomach” before to the event.
“I’m getting married,” she announced as she sat across from her mother and brother, a few seconds before dropping another shock, “to a complete stranger.”
Jackie was noticeably surprised, and she couldn’t take her gaze away from her daughter, covering her mouth with her hand, which had dropped following the statement.
Megan broke the quiet and questioned, “No words?” as her eyes flew between the two. Mitchell was equally taken aback.
Jackie reacted, “Seriously?” after turning her head to her son to corroborate what she believed she heard. To which she said, “Seriously.”
Jackie looked overcome with emotion after exclaiming, “Oh my god,” before standing up and storming out of the room.
Mitchell didn’t say anything and just stared at his sister in pure bewilderment.
The health coach explained why she was participating in the social experiment earlier in the episode.
“Brinkwire Summary News,” Megan.
