Mauricio Pochettino has named his first ‘two signings’ for Manchester United, one of whom is a familiar face.

Manchester United bosses are growing more confident in Mauricio Pochettino’s appointment, with the Argentine already identifying his top January transfer targets, which include a familiar face.

Mauricio Pochettino is said to have chosen Kieran Trippier and Joules Kounde as his first two Manchester United signings, with the Argentine linked with taking over as manager at Old Trafford from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The United board is growing more confident in the appointment of the current PSG manager, with talks underway to pay the Ligue 1 club a £10 million compensation package to release him from his contract.

Pochettino’s move to Manchester appears to have taken a giant step forward.

The former Tottenham manager is already inquiring about the Red Devils’ January recruitment, according to Spanish outlet La Razon, and he wants to permanently shore up their leaky backline.

In 18 games, the Red Devils have only three clean sheets.

According to the report, Trippier of Atletico Madrid and Kounde of Sevilla are at the top of the Argentine’s wish list.

Trippier, who played under Pochettino at Spurs, is no stranger to him.

The England international was a regular at White Hart Lane and played a key role in Spurs’ Champions League final appearance in 2019.

Pochettino wants to rekindle their relationship at Man Utd if he is appointed, with the flying full-back approaching the end of his contract in the Spanish capital.

Let us know where Manchester United needs to improve in January in the comments section.

United’s defense is such a concern for Pochettino that he wants to bring in another top centre-back in Jules Kounde.

Sevilla refused to lower their asking price, so the Frenchman missed out on a move to Chelsea this summer.

And the €70 million (£59 million) valuation could have a similar outcome this time.

According to the report, United will not be able to afford the Frenchman at his current price.

Over the summer, the club splashed the cash, spending over £140 million on Jadon Sancho, Raphael Varane, and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Pochettino may have to do some negotiating in January as a result.
