Man United have called a ’emergency board meeting’ to discuss the sacking of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

United are reportedly poised to fire Ole Gunnar Solskjaer following their devastating defeat to Watford, with a virtual board meeting scheduled for 7 p.m.

Following Manchester United’s devastating defeat to Watford, the club has summoned an emergency board meeting to examine manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s future.

According to reports, a virtual meeting has been arranged for 7 p.m. this evening, with the Norwegian’s career on the line.

According to the Sunday Times, United’s board members are almost unanimous in their decision to fire Solskjaer, and will consider a compensation package during the meeting.

The Glazers are said to have told the club to look for former Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane to replace Solskjaer, though Mauricio Pochettino and Brendan Rodgers have also been mentioned.

United were defeated 4-1 at Vicarage Road earlier this afternoon thanks to goals from Josh King, Ismalia Sarr, Joao Pedro, and Dennis.

Donny van de Beek’s header gave United hope at 2-0 down, but captain Harry Maguire was sent off for a reckless charge at Tom Cleverley, and the momentum swung back to Watford, who scored two late goals.

United suffered their seventh defeat of the season, and they are now 12 points behind league leaders Chelsea.

After a bad run of performances and results, a number of former United players have called for Solskjaer to be fired, though goalkeeper David de Gea told reporters after the game that the players were to blame for the club’s disaster.

After the game, Bruno Fernandes got into an argument with a fan who booed the players as they walked over to the away end, while Solskjaer was seen waving to the crowd as he walked away.

United has been unable to maintain consistency for some time, and have recently been trounced by Liverpool and Manchester City.

The defeats exposed the gap in class between Solskjaer and other elite managers in the Premier League, according to many fans.

Rumors of his dismissal started to circulate, but a 3-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur not only put the naysayers to rest, but also pushed Spurs to hire Antonio Conte, who had been heavily connected with the Old Trafford job.
