Linda, Elvis’ girlfriend, recalls “the best love possible.”

Linda Thompson, Elvis Presley’s lover, reflected on their relationship and called it “the greatest love possible,” despite subsequently marrying Bruce (later Caitlyn) Jenner.

Linda was Elvis Presley’s girlfriend for four and a half years. Apart from Priscilla, it was his longest and most important relationship. They broke up less than a year before his death, but Linda was invited to his funeral by his family and has since protected and honored his memory and legacy. She married Jenner and had two boys, Brody and Brandon Jenner, as well as carving out a successful career as a composer and marrying famed record producer David Foster as her second husband.

While those closest to Elvis began publishing revealing tell-all books in the final year of his life and have continued to do so incessantly ever since, Linda remained conspicuously mute for over four decades.

A Little Thing Called Life: On Loving Elvis Presley, Bruce Jenner, and Songs in Between, her only book on the subject, was published in 2016.

“Everything that could have been written about Elvis Presley had been published, and then more, or made-up stories,” she claimed. So, to this day, I consider this a great duty. I’ve always tried to portray him in the best light possible.”

“He was such a remarkable human being,” Linda said of Elvis, “and I tried to write the book with kindness, tolerance, and understanding.”

“And then there’s a little amount of knowledge that only comes from life experience. I had to live my own life and forge my own path. I didn’t want to be one of those people who just jumped on the bandwagon and created a book to profit off of his connection. That was something I was very wary of.

“I wanted to create out my own place in life, compose my own songs, carve out my own career, have my children and family, and then write about my life and where he fit into it, which is, of course, the greatest love imaginable,” she says.
