Liam Payne of One Direction was ecstatic when the band disbanded.

Liam Payne of ONE DIRECTION has spoken up about how he “needed” the band to break up in 2015 after experiencing personal troubles on tour.

One Direction disbanded in 2015, leaving their legions of fans heartbroken. Since the band’s breakup, rumors have circulated that the band might reform. Liam, a member of the band at the time, was relieved that he didn’t have to continue living the fast-paced rockstar lifestyle. The rocker recently talked up about the difficulties he faced during the band’s heyday. “I was like, ‘Thank the Lord,’ the day the band broke up,” he added.

“I know a lot of people are going to be furious at me for saying that,” Liam told The Diary of a CEO Podcast, “but I needed to quit or it would kill me.”

In 2009, the band met on the set of The X Factor.

Simon Cowell grouped the five individual singers – Liam, Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Niall Horan, and Louis Tomlinson – and they finished third in the competition.

Following the talent competition, One Direction had a successful six-year career in the music industry, selling more than 70 million records worldwide and charting four times in the United Kingdom on many world tours.

However, Liam was under a lot of stress at the time, on top of being isolated all of the time.

“In the band, the best way to safeguard us, because of how huge we were, was just to lock us in our rooms,” Liam explained.

“Can you tell me what’s in the room?” A mini-bar is available.

“So, at some point, I decided to just have a one-person party, and that seemed to last for many years of my life.”

“Then you look back at how long you’ve been drinking and think, ‘Jesus Christ, that’s a long time,’” Liam continued.

“It was crazy,” he said, “but it was the only way you could get your fury out.”

He then opened up on what his daily life would be like when the band was on the road.

“We were usually trapped in a hotel room at night,” the 27-year-old stated. Brinkwire Summary News
