Die-hard Law & Order: SVU fans recall the days when Michelle Hurd was part of the cast, when Ice-T joined the series for the first time, and when Alexandra Cabot and Casey Novak returned and appeared in later seasons as fan-favorite characters.
The newer episodes (set in a post-Elliot Stabler environment) have a different format and approach for some fans.
Because of this, they will highlight those that are more like the earlier episodes in recent years. One of those episodes, which fans say gives a “old school” SVU vibe, is a complicated and exciting one from 2017.
“The 2018 episode of “Send in the Clowns” aired
The Special Victims Unit team investigates a teenager who vanished during a spring break trip in the episode that aired in 2018, titled “Send in the Clowns,” The main suspect is originally a butcher who, though wearing a clown mask, was seen with the kid. In fact, the teacher of the girl is the person who really kidnapped the girl, and the whole time he’s been under their noses, helping with the case.
And then, in the twist of all the twists, it turns out that the teacher is really the husband of the girl and that her mother had been seduced years before by the teacher. Incest was a subject in the film, but in this way, it has never been discussed. In the episode, it was said that the relationship between the girl and her previously unknown real father is the result of a thing called genetic sexual attraction, which happens later in life when relatives do not grow up together and find each other.
In the 2012 episode “Father Dearest.”, this was also discussed.
Fans say the episode is a throwback to the older ‘Law and Order: SVU’ episodes.

For tracking a case from discovery to court ruling, episodes of the series in earlier seasons are known. In several of the new series, though, guilt or innocence is sometimes decided within a few minutes, and topics such as the morality of what happened and the nuances of cases and the law are explored in the episode as opposed to the “whodunnit” of all.
‘Send in the Clowns,’ however, was more of an older episode.
