Sons of Anarchy star Katey Sagal has been rushed to hospital after she was hit by a car in Los Angeles.

According to TMZ, the 67-year-old was crossing the street when she was struck by a car on Thursday afternoon.

It has been reported that the driver of the vehicle stopped to help Hollywood actress after the dangerous collision where she was transported by ambulance to the closest hospital to be treated for her injuries.

Their source reassured fans that her injuries were not serious and is “expected to be released sometime on Friday.”

It remains unclear if the driver has been cited for the accident.

And her loyal legion of fans soon poured out their support online as the shocking news hit the headlines.

One user wrote: “Get well soon @KateySagal !!!!!!!” while another agreed: “Protect @kateysagal at all costs!”

A third penned: “I wish you a speedy recovery” followed by another fan who added: “American treasure Katey Sagal hit by driver of car. Looks like she’s going to be OK.”

It comes after the mum-of-three gave fans a sneak peek into her highly-anticipated wedding scene to her onscreen partner Dan, played by John Goodman in a spinoff sitcom called The Conners.

The ABC series is based off of the American favourite comic show Rosanne which debuted in 1987 and quickly became a national favourite.

In an exclusive interview with Entertainment Weekly, the star shared a snap from the momentous show in which she donned a beautiful white figure-hugging gown complete with a sheer veil for her big day.

Beaming alongside her onscreen bride, The Big Lebowski star opted for a classic black tuxedo which featured a James Bond inspired bow tie as the pair posed together in a church.

Outside of her vast TV career, the actress also showcased her impressive vocal range through her original music which she often interweaved throughout the show.

She also provided the voice of one-eyed space captain Turanga Leela in Matt Groening’s Futurama which was hugely successful in the early noughties.
