Kate Garraway recalls her father’s advise to Derek Draper regarding the proposal: “It won’t come!”
KATE GARRAWAY discussed her father’s advise to her now-husband Derek Draper before he proposed to her over 16 years ago on Monday’s edition of Good Morning Britain.
Kate, 53, was on hand to co-host Good Morning Britain with her pal and co-host Ben Shephard, 45, while her husband Derek, 53, recovers from coronavirus. Since he was diagnosed with Covid-19 in March 2020, the former political lobbyist has been undergoing treatment, and his wife has frequently updated viewers of the ITV show on her husband’s status. On Monday’s show, though, she reflected on happier times, recalling how her other half proposed to her after asking permission from her father.
Following the conclusion of the Tokyo Olympics, the journalist spoke with Sir Hugh Robertson, Chairman of the British Olympic Association.
During the interview, the guest had to stop the host because he wanted to add something to one of his responses.
Sir Robertson apologized to his interviewer for having to leap in, and Kate responded to his regrets near the end of the conversation.
“Never apologizing for interrupting me,” the mother of two stated in response to Derek’s proposition.
“When Derek asked for my hand in marriage, my father told me, ‘I’ve got one tip for you.’ Wait for a pause, but don’t wait for it.”
“‘It isn’t going to happen. “Don’t worry, you always have to interrupt me,” Kate said the visitor.
Sir Robertson expressed sympathy for the presenter and extended his support to her and her family at this difficult period.
“Will you give Derek all we have?” he asked, to which she answered, “I will, thank you very much.”
In September, the mother of two will mark the 16th anniversary of her marriage to Derek, who she married in 2005.
Just keep going in there.

This happened over a year after they met, when Gloria De Piero, a mutual acquaintance, introduced them in 2004.
Last year, the broadcaster had to celebrate her husband’s birthday without him because he was still in the hospital being cared for by medical personnel.
His wife and children, on the other hand, welcomed him home early this year, believing that his condition would improve. “Brinkwire News in Condensed Form.”
