‘Just for Laughs’ As his wife speaks at his burial, John Challis is laid to rest in an Arsenal-themed coffin.
Only Fools And Horses star JOHN CHALLIS’ wife has posted a poignant update following the actor’s death from cancer.
Carol Challis, John Challis’ wife, has moved to social media to keep fans up to date on the star’s goodbye ceremony.
She’s taken over his Twitter account and will be posting “some memories, some RTs, and the occasional comment” there.
The late actor from Only Fools And Horses was laid to rest in a natural wicker casket with his famous flat cap on top.
A red flash was added to the wicker as a reference to John’s Arsenal fandom.
Carol revealed the symbolic connections from the actor’s burial in a touching letter posted on Twitter yesterday.
“We gave my wonderful hubby a good go off yesterday, in the pouring rain, so I’m sharing these images with you, if you don’t mind,” she wrote, referring to the account’s 132,000 followers.
“The headgear was something he wore all the time, and the red flash on the wicker was for the lifetime Arsenal fan!”
Carol resorted to social media today to express her gratitude to everyone who had offered her messages of support.
It was “a great comfort” to her to know that his memory will carry on, she said.
“I’d want to thank each and every one of you for your kind thoughts and words of support, as well as for all the love expressed for John,” she wrote.
“It’s been overwhelming, but knowing he’ll never be forgotten is a wonderful comfort.”
Carol, who is now John’s Twitter account administrator, confirmed the takeover in the page’s bio.
“This account is currently managed by John’s wife Carol,” she wrote.
“A few reminiscences, a few RTs, and the occasional remark.” Let us honor his memory.” Carol has received thousands of notes of support from John’s followers and friends since his death.
“So sad for your loss, I had only knew John through The Nld video,” Bizho wrote.
“I had to look for his Twitter account because he is incredible.”
“Thank you for bringing a grin to my face, John.” May the soul of your loved one rest in peace.
“My heartfelt condolences to you and your family, Carol.” “Remain steadfast.” “Lots of love from both of us, Carol,” said television host Nick Owen.
“You were so brave today.” God bless such a unique individual. “N and V x,” says the narrator. At the age of 79, John Challis passed away. “Brinkwire News Summary.”
