Jodie Comer, who starred in KILLING EVE, was recently replaced in a major Apple TV series.
Actress Jodie Comer was forced to leave her most recent roles after starring in the critically acclaimed BBC series Killing Eve.
For Ridley Scott’s next big film, she was recently replaced by Vanessa Kirby.
Ridley Scott has cast Vanessa Kirby as Empress Josephine alongside Joaquin Phoenix, according to Deadline.
In the historical drama ‘Kitbag,’ he will play Napoleon.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jodie Comer was originally cast but had to drop out due to COVID-19 and scheduling changes.
Kitbag is Ridley Scott’s latest epic drama, focusing on Napoleon Bonaparte, the French military leader.
Along with Bonaparte’s historic rise, the film is expected to depict their love story.
While Jodie was in Ridley Scott’s most recent film, The Last Duel, Vanessa will take her place in this film.
In a film about betrayal and vengeance set in oppressive 14th century France, Jodie starred alongside Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, and Adam Driver.
“Unfortunately, due to Covid and schedule changes, I don’t believe I can make Kitbag work right now due to a scheduling conflict,” Jodie said on the Awards Chatter podcast.
“Through the lens of his addictive and often volatile relationship with the Empress, Kitbag will also explore Bonaparte’s origins and his swift, ruthless climb to emperor,” according to Deadline.
After being nominated for an Academy Award for her performance in Pieces of a Woman, this will be Vanessa’s next major role.
She portrayed Martha, a Boston woman struggling to cope with the loss of a child, in the film.
She is a BAFTA award-winning actress who has also been nominated for Emmys, Golden Globes, Critics Choice Awards, and Screen Actors Guild Awards.
Vanessa is also well-known for her portrayal of Princess Margaret in Netflix’s The Crown’s first and second seasons.
She’ll be in ‘The Son,’ alongside Anthony Hopkins, Hugh Jackman, and Laura Dern, in addition to Kitbag.
It’s Florian Zeller’s follow-up to his Oscar-winning debut feature, ‘The Father,’ and it’s expected to be a hit.
