Brian Dietzen, star of NCIS: Los Angeles, turned to social media to celebrate a huge milestone on the show that took place away from the cameras.

The 19th episode of CBS’ procedural drama premiered in September, and the action-packed series is well begun. Behind the scenes of NCIS, actor Brian Dietzen, who plays Jimmy Palmer, recently achieved a big career milestone.

Brian published a selfie of himself holding up a script with his name on it on Instagram to share the exciting news with his followers.

“You guys, I got to write a script of @ncis cbs with my pal @mostxsw and it’s been a terrific trip so far,” he wrote in the caption.

“After Thanksgiving weekend, we jumped right into filming this bad boy, and I couldn’t be more excited – it’s my first time writing for the show, and it’s been a blast.”

“I’ll keep you guys updated along the process,” Brian said. “I’m very excited to share this with you all.” This week, I’m grateful for everything!” This is a big achievement for Brian, who has played Dr. James Palmer, Chief Medical Examiner, since the first season.

Normally, an actor’s natural path away from the screen is to become a director, but Brian decided to break the mold and join NCIS as a writer.

After he made the announcement, his supporters flooded the comment area with sentiments of congratulations and support.

Originalginged84, for example, began by saying, “Well, you’re a terrific person and have been awesome on the show, well deserved!!!” Ducky will be ecstatic.” “Brian!!!” added BethBNault to a photo shared by Brian Dietzen (@briankdietzen). This is incredible!!! I’m ecstatic for you and can’t wait to watch the process unfold!!!! “Thanksgiving greetings.” “Congratulations!” wrote Irismycase. “Wow, that’s really fantastic!” Other actors, like Diona Reasonover, who presently plays Kasie Hines on NCIS, congratulated Brian on his achievement, saying, “It’s a great script pal.” “We can’t wait to see it,” the official NCIS Facebook added. Although Jimmy Palmer was introduced to Dr. Donald ‘Ducky’ Mallard (David McCallum) as Medical Examiner in 2004, he was simply there to cover for his assistant.

However, after a second confrontation with terrorist Ari Haswari, the assistant was elevated to the position of chief of staff, allowing Jimmy to work with Ducky on a permanent basis.
