ITV viewers are outraged after fans expose the ‘cheap’ stunt error ‘Come on!’

VERA fans were underwhelmed by Sunday night’s episode of the ITV drama, calling the stunt scene “cheap” and saying they “expected better” from the series.

After a five-month hiatus, viewers were delighted to see Detective Vera Stanhope (played by Brenda Blethyn) return to ITV screens on Sunday night.

With sidekick Aiden Healy (Kenny Doughty), Series 11 returned with even more drama and murder cases.

However, as the first episode aired, viewers were unimpressed by the “cheap” stunt that took place and took to social media to express their displeasure.

A police officer was seen running after a lorry that had driven away from a construction site during the incident.

While the lorry was speeding down the road to avoid being stopped by the cops, a worker on his phone began walking in front of the oncoming vehicle.

As the lorry approached, another worker noticed the impending carnage and leapt in front of it to save the other man’s life.

However, as the actor prepared to leap in front of the lorry, viewers realized the stunt was staged and the scene was ruined.

“(hashtag)Vera come on @ITV increase your special effects budget because you could tell that was a dummy,” @STrimnell wrote on Twitter.

“Shocking start to (hashtag)Vera,” @apwilliamstech commented.

Stunt work and special effects that are both cheap and nasty!”

“What on Earth was that dreadful VFX on (hashtag)vera,” @CamoFirefly agreed.

“What the f*** was that (hashtag)Vera,” @JackSimpson_93 added.

“I expected better from the Vera people!” @MissyChrissy001 said.

Not everyone was disappointed with the scene, as @dilly_dot praised: “Awesome opening stunt! (hashtag)Vera.”

Former Emmerdale actress Charlie Hardwick also made a surprise appearance during the episode, which delighted fans.

Charlie played Grace Webley, a shady underworld boss who Vera obviously had reservations about in the episode Tyger.

“I think we really need to see more of Val from Emmerdale in her ‘don’t mess with me pet’ power blouse!” tweeted @mpmeg, expressing surprise at her appearance.

Charlie, 61, is best known for his role as Val Pollard in the popular ITV soap Emmerdale, which he played from 2004 to 2015 and then again in 2017.

However, there are some fans.
