“It Was Chunky,” says Kevin Smith of Eternals.

Eternals, Marvel Studios’ most recent film to hit theaters, continues to do well at the box office, grossing over (dollar)300 million worldwide. However, despite the film’s success, there are some criticisms.

On Rotten Tomatoes, the film has the lowest rating of the MCU, with one of the major criticisms being the film’s length.

Kevin Smith, a filmmaker and pop culture fan, has now added his thoughts on Eternals, and he, too, has concerns about the film’s length.

Smith described the film as “chunky” in a recent episode of his Fatman Beyond podcast with Marc Bernardin.

“I saw Eternals while I was in Vancouver, and it’s one of those movies where I was like, ‘This movie doesn’t have to be as long as it is,'” Smith said.

“It’s a lovely film, and Chloe is a better director than I’ll ever be, so this isn’t about that.”

It’s just that it was a bit chunky.

You’re aware that it’ll take two and a half hours.

Man, bring it in.

Simply put, I’m baffled.

As a filmmaker, I would rather give someone a nonstop 90-minute movie than a two-and-a-half-hour movie that allows people’s minds to wander or something like that.”

Smith went on to praise the film’s “gorgeous” look and performances, claiming that there were no weak links.

He just stated that the film is too long and deals with characters in which he isn’t as invested as he is in other Marvel characters, such as the Avengers.

For Smith, being invested in the characters would have made the film’s length more bearable, as it was for Avengers: Endgame, which was just over 20 minutes longer than Eternals.

Smith’s comments are well-balanced, but Marvel Studios doesn’t appear to be too concerned about Eternals’ critical reception in general.

During a recent appearance at the Outfest Legacy Awards, Marvel Studios executive Victoria Alonso mentioned the reviews and said they’re “okay.”

“We’ve tried to stir things up, but the critics aren’t always on our side,” Alonso said.

“It’s all right.

It’s all right.

We appreciate your feedback.

We appreciate your taking the time to mention us in your article.

And it’ll be decided by the fans.”

The Eternals are…
