So what changes should you be making to your home in time for autumn? Lynsey exclusive shared her tips with This website.

One area of the home you may often forget about in the summer, is your ceilings which includes your smoke alarms and bulbs.

Lynsey said: “If you’ve got smoke alarms in your house, obviously, you want to check those batteries because now the house is going to be locked up a lot more, the doors are going to be closed.

“We need to look at our light bulbs. I bet if you go to one of your light bulbs, in one of your lamps, you might notice a layer of dust.

“If your light bulb has got dust on it, obviously you’re not getting the right amount of light from it.

“Just use a makeup brush – an old recycled one – or a paint brush and just go around and do all your bulbs.”

Another key tip from Lynsey included making some changes by your front and back door.

She continued: “Sweeping up out the front, changing your doormats over, getting more heavy duty doormats out to take the mud and the rain that’s going to start to come.

“In the summer, you might want a less intrusive doormat like a thinner one.
