Inside the Corrie Gemma actress’s personal life, including her rival soap role, love life, and glam makeover

Gemma Winter of Coronation Street is set to star in a major new storyline, so fans can expect to see a lot more of actress Dolly-Rose Campbell on the ITV soap.

Dolly-Rose Campbell persuaded the casting directors that Gemma Winter on Coronation Street was supposed to be a one-off character.

The 34-year-old soap star has been a regular on the cobblestones since 2016, after impressing producers two years prior as Kylie Platt’s best friend.

With a criminal record buried in her past and four rambunctious quadruplets to raise, Gemma’s life in Weatherfield has been eventful.

Actress Dolly-Rose, on the other hand, prefers to remain out of the spotlight once filming is completed.

Brinkwire has done a deep dive into Dolly-Rose’s spectacular rise to fame and life off-camera, as Gemma’s stepson Joseph goes missing in upcoming scenes.

From her one-night stand with Tyrone Dobbs to her fling with faux-millionaire Henry Newton, Gemma’s love life has been at the center of some of Corrie’s most explosive storylines in recent years.

Gemma has settled down with Chesney Brown, a takeaway worker, and the young couple is raising their four young children in number five Coronation Street.

Dolly-Rose prefers to keep her relationships private, contrary to her outspoken on-screen persona.

The actress, on the other hand, has been a long-time supporter of Manchester Pride, claiming that the festival was instrumental in her coming out as bisexual.

“I have always been supported by my friends and family,” Dolly-Rose told Metro in June last year. “For people who are struggling, I would always say people who mind don’t matter, people who matter don’t mind.”

“I’m an ambassador for Manchester Pride, so I’m usually out celebrating and raising awareness with the charity,” she continued when asked how she celebrates Pride every year.

“It’s a time to enjoy the part and culture of all aspects of LGBTQ(plus) culture that we all enjoy,” she says.

Dolly-Rose made her televised debut in 2010 on the medical drama Doctors, where she played Sasha Dyson, a one-off character.

She didn’t get her big break in Corrie for another four years, when she was cast as ex-convict Gemma after an audition.

Dolly- Rose worked as a bartender before her acting career took off, a skill she used in the Rover’s Return when pulling pints.

Salford was his birthplace.
