In his BBC debut photo, Sam Heughan, who plays Jamie Fraser in Outlander, appears to be a million miles away from his Jamie Fraser role.
In a resurfaced image from his BBC debut, OUTLANDER star Sam Heughan appeared completely unrecognizable.
Jamie Fraser of Outlander is known for his good looks, but in a recently rediscovered photo, the actor looks completely different.
Sam Heughan makes his BBC debut in this throwback photo from 17 years ago.
Sam is best known for his role in Starz’s historical drama Outlander, but he didn’t look like this when he first appeared on the screen in 2005.
The image was resurfaced from his first appearance on the BBC Scottish drama River City, which aired in 2002.
The young Scottish actor was cast as footballer Andrew Murray on the streets of Shieldinch.
His plot also included a love story between him and his on-screen girlfriends, including Glaswegian local Kelly-Marie Adams (played by Carmen Pieraccini).
Andrew was his parents’ favorite footballer, and his dreams of becoming a Scottish Premier League star came true when he became the star of the league.
Fans of the show watched as he became enamored with fame, money, and women, but he fell in love with Kelly-Marie.
His family, who were born into a wealthy and arrogant family, thought his attraction to Kelly-Marie was a form of rebellion because they thought she was too common.
They married, and he whisked her away to Monaco to live out her dream of being a WAG to the fullest.
The high-profile success, however, caught up with Andrew, and he couldn’t stop cheating on Kelly-Marie, forcing her to return to Shieldinch.
Andrew eventually gave his wife an ultimatum, and she chose to remain in Scotland, bruising his ego.
In retaliation, he got married right away and then sold his story to the press.
This is in stark contrast to Sam’s current role in the historical drama set in 1776.
Sam spent years in the theatre, including a role in Romeo and Juliet at the Dundee Repertory Theatre, in addition to a successful on-screen career starring in Doctors and Midsommer Murders.
His role as Jamie Fraser, on the other hand, catapulted him to international fame and earned him multiple awards, including a People’s Choice and a Saturn Award.
Season six is set to premiere this year, and fans have been eagerly anticipating its release.
Sam and his co-star Graham McTavish teamed up for a documentary miniseries called Men in Kilts: A Roadtrip with Sam and Graham in 2020.
